While Anna & Burns have known each other since high school, their families have been friends for generations.

When Covid hit, Anna left Atlanta, GA where she had been living at the time to spend time with her parents and work from the beach for "2 weeks". This was enough time for Burns to invite Anna to Jennings downtown for drinks.

For two years the two did semi-long distance, Anna spent about half the year in Atlanta and half in Bradenton. In August 2022, Anna decided to sell her townhome in Atlanta and move back to Bradenton.

Anna, Burns, and Murphy moved into their first home together and brought home their second dog, Chili.

It is no secret that you cannot keep a secret from Anna without her finding out about it. Burns & Anna had planned to go to Wyoming and Montana in September 2023. She had a very good idea that Burns would propose in the same place he first said 'I love you', so much so that she was planning outfits and discussing it with her family and friends.

Burns really wanted it to be a surprise so he planned a date night to take the boat to dinner at Shore on Longboat Key. This was a date night they had done before so it didn't seem unusual. The two went out around 5:30 and planned to fish a little before dinner. Burns asked Anna to drop the anchor and when she turned around he was on one knee asking her to marry him. After "you're kidding" and "are you serious", Anna said yes!

Burns said they had to go see her parents for a toast and that they weren't actually going to Shore. After calling & facetiming friends, Anna, always suspicious, could tell there were a few of those people trying to hide that they were at her parents house. When she arrived, both of their families & dear family friends were there to celebrate with a "surprise" engagement party.
